By looking at the list of films each of these studios have produced, Warner Bros. Studios seem to produce the most thriller films which could relate to the film noir genre. Warner Bros. has consistently had dominance in the market throughout the years and because thriller films usually require high budgets to produce, Warner is able to cope with these demands being such a dominating franchise.

Audience Research

British Board of Film Classification

Suitable for 15 years and over.
Rated 15 films include the following features:
discrimination
drugs
horror
imitable behaviour
language
nudity
sex
violence
and are unsuitable for any persons below the age of 15 to rent or buy films of this certificate.

18 rated films similarly contain the same elements as a 15 but the violent behavior, language and nudity may be of a stronger nature.

These elements contribute towards the rating of the film and are allowed in films but are not allowed to be focussed to much upon in the film.

Audiences as shown by the institution research are more into the thriller side of neo noirs. Fantasy is also a recent huge audience attractor as shown by the IMDB top 10 of 2010-2011.

With our film being a new film it may be hard to attract an audience as recent seat grabbers have been remakes and sequels. We will advertise Femme Fatal appropriately to attract a wide range of audience aimed around 18-50 year olds. The younger audience will be interested as the Film Noir genre is recently being portrayed in mass media. This is shown in Britney Spears recent album titled Femme Fatale and in Rockstar's latest release L.A Noire. The older audience will be attracted to the film as they are familiar with the genre and its enigmas. Femme Fatal will be action packed and keep the audience on the seats, this will hopefully get the audience to give a mass word of mouth hype.

Brief History Of Film Noir

Research Mindmap

Preliminary Task

Our prelim task was based on someone entering a room and having a conversation. The task was meant to show short reverse shots, 180 degree rule and match on action. We failed to use match on action however we stuck to the 180 degree rule throughout out filming. Also we did not use short reverse shot. I would say we have improved greatly since this prelim as our new project, Femme Fatal, has much more shots within it. Also the editing is far more advanced.
